Laing O’Rourke is one of the biggest construction companies in the world which have helped build landmark projects around the world, including the 2012 London Olympic Park, Francis Crick Institute and the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai to name a few. Laing O’Rourke is also at the forefront of digital engineering and brings new and immersive technologies into their workplace to improve several aspects of on-site and offsite production.
My Role
Title: Digital Engineer- Software Developer
Time: May 2018 – October 2020
I joined the Core Modelling Team in the Dartford Headquarters of Laing O’Rourke in May 2018. I was brought into the team to expand the VR, AR and MR platforms and experiences they provide, in addition to building tools and programs to help other members of the team. I use the Unity engine to create experiences and software for training and site inductions. I also use the .NET framework (C# and VB) to create tools in programs such as Navisworks and Revit.
